A Gospel and Country Music Quartet whose influence on the music scene has spanned decades dating all the way back to World War 2, the Oak Ridge Boys are set to perform at Forney’s Spellman Amphitheater this Saturday, November 6, as the group wraps up this year’s Elvira 40 Tour.

The third special session ended recently, with lawmakers granting final approval to new maps for statehouse and congressional districts, completing a process that began almost a year ago when the Legislature opened redistricting hearings in January. Delays in census data pushed the process back months, but the Legislature reached a consensus on a map that creates two new congressional districts, one in Travis county and another in northwest Harris county, increasing the size of the state delegation in Washington to 38 seats.

The Forney High School and North Forney High School marching bands recently competed at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Area C Marching Band Competition with both bands advancing to the finals. The competition, held at Memorial Stadium in Mesquite on Saturday, Oct. 23, featured marching bands that advanced to the Area level of competition from their region marching contests.
