Amazing Teachers Equal Amazing Students

Amazing Teachers Equal Amazing Students

The amazing people that grace your life are truly a gift. I have been fortunate in my life to have been blessed by unforgettable teachers and people who have come into my life through school and through Flower Basket. This past week one of my favorite people passed away, and he will always be a bright light in my universe. Franklin Herren was many things to many people, but for me he was an artist and craftsman that loved white carnations and baby’s breath. He appreciated add-ins like birds, butterflies, and sparkly twigs, but he really loved the dynamic of white carnations and baby’s breath in his weekly arrangement. He constructed wooden boxes that were completely made of wood- -even the hinges--and each piece took my breath away! He chose beautiful pieces of wood and combined them to create a dynamic look of natural colors and multiple wood types. I was so fortunate that he made me my own box, which I use every day--it was a perfect place to put my jewelry.

Kaufman County Deer Hunters Required to Test Harvested Game

Kaufman County Deer Hunters Required to Test Harvested Game

As deer season approaches, Kaufman County hunters need to be aware of a new requirement. Because of the neurological disease in deer found in this region of Texas called Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), hunters who harvest mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, red deer, or other CWD susceptible species within the Trans-Pecos, Panhandle, and South- Central Texas CWD Containment and Surveillance Zones are REQUIRED to bring their animals to a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) check station within 48 hours of harvest. There will be two check stations for Hunt/Kaufman/ Rockwall/Van Zandt Counties. Dates, times, and locations are listed below. • A staffed check station is located in Quinlan at 3381 SH 276 West, in the parking lot behind Exxon Gas and More St.

Why Do We Cut Firewood in October?

Why would you fire up the chainsaw or swing a woodsplitter in Forney, Texas when the high temperature is 86 degrees? Why would you make yourself get up early to have to put on leather gloves in this heat? Well, you do work now so that you don’t have to do it in February--in the cold and, as last winter showed us, in the snow. You do a bit of work now so that you aren’t stuck doing it when you’re desperate. That’s why we fund public education.

CRY MACHO, starring Clint Eastwood

It is interesting to note that there have been attempts to make this movie, based upon the 1975 book known as Cry Macho, for approximately 30 years, and now the project has reached fruition with Clint Eastwood (8-time Golden Globe Winner) as both the director/producer and leading star of this “PG-13 for thematic elements and language” Western drama, which is 104 minutes in length, and I did not even snooze one second!

NTMWD Adopts Fiscal Year 2022 Budget to Meet Essential Services Commitment

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) Board of Directors has adopted a fiscal year (FY) 2022 budget focused on limiting budget increases while still meeting the essential needs of two million North Texans. The $589.67 million budget keeps the wholesale water rate unchanged for the third consecutive year at $2.99 per thousand gallons of treated water for its member cities. While the five cities who participate in the regional solid waste system will also see no increase in cost per ton, the regional wastewater system includes increases to fund infrastructure required to support our growing region. The NTMWD FY22 budget and system rates went into effect on October 1.
