Forney Police Arrest Elvis Sestic for Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle

On Thursday, November 11th, 2021, at approximately 7:13 p. m. hours, Forney Police responded to US Hwy 80 and FM 548 after receiving a report of two vehicles coming out of the Mesquite area involved in a continuing disturbance. The vehicles were reported as being a white box truck and a black Honda Pilot.

The Forney Education Foundation Grant Committee has worked very diligently these last two weeks perusing the grant requests from the teachers and staff of Forney ISD. As always, there are some wonderful requests and that makes the selection of which grants to fund that much more difficult for the committee. There are criteria that the committee follows that helps the decision making process along, but when there are so many wonderful ideas it does make the narrowing down process more difficult.

Forney ISD Earns an ‘A’ for TEA’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for 6th Year

The Forney Independent School District (ISD) recently received notification that it has been awarded an ‘A’ rating for ‘Superior Achievement’ from the Texas Education Agency(TEA) for the Financial Integrity Rating System in Texas, (FIRST). The Superior Achievement rating is the highest rating possible in the FIRST program meaning that Forney ISD has exceeded all expectations regarding the district’s finances.

Kaufman County Deer Hunters Required to Test Harvested Game

As deer season approaches, Kaufman County hunters need to be aware of a new requirement. Because of the neurological disease in deer found in this region of Texas called Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), hunters who harvest mule deer, whitetailed deer, elk, red deer, or other CWD susceptible species within the Trans-Pecos, Panhandle, and South-Central Texas CWD Containment and Surveillance Zones are REQUIRED to bring their animals to a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) check station within 48 hours of harvest. There will be two check stations for Hunt/Kaufman/Rockwall/ Van Zandt Counties. Dates, times, and locations are listed below.
