By Adam Wardlaw Photos by Eddy Taylor The Forney Jackrabbits traveled to Toyota Stadium in Frisco last Thursday night for their second game of the season. Week Two saw Forney faceoff against the Frisco Memorial Warriors. Memorial came into the game 1-0 after winning their season opener the previous week against Garland’s Lakeview Centennial, but Forney was hungry for a win after the close game week one provided in a loss to the Crandall Pirates.
Crandall Dominates Kaufman 45-10

North Forney 2022-23 Season Kickoff
By Mike Idleman Photos by Blanca Lester Welcome all to the 2022-23 North Forney football season! It was a tough start for the Falcons as they tangled with the Whitehouse Wildcats Friday night at Whitehouse, losing 30 to 47. The game was the tale of two halves. The Falcons stopped the Wildcats’ first drive with a 3 and out but were pinned deep after the ensuing punt placed the Falcons at their own 10-yard line. The Falcons could not get themselves out of the hole and had to punt the ball away leaving the Wildcats with a short field on the plus 40-yard line. The Wildcats would score on their second possession, but the Falcons would respond with an 80-yard drive capped off by a middle screen from #10 Mike Phillips to #5 DJ for a 44-yard touchdown, extra point good by #30 Collin Randal, making the score 7 to 7 at the end of the first quarter.
Crandall Takes Revenge on Forney in Rainy Nail-Biter
By Patrick Luecke Photos by Jason Bowie Friday night was the first week of high school football! An exciting matchup between Crandall and Forney ensued. These teams have had some incredible finishes in the past two meetings. The stats are incredible with seven combined overtimes and the scoring of 173 combined points! Forney won the toss and deferred to receive the ball in the second half. Senior Luke Moffitt took the field as the varsity quarterback instead of the standout receiver he had become over the past two years. I asked Moffitt how he felt about switching from receiver to quarterback. Moffitt said, “I felt ready and have worked really hard to get to this point with my teammates. I have a great relationship with Coach Hardin and I’m glad he can trust me to run his offense.”

Sportsmanship Principles all Young Athletes Should Know
Competitive sports have a lot to offer young people. In addition to exposing children to the thrill of competition, competitive sports can set a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living. One study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine in 2014 found that afterschool physical activity programs were the most effective strategy to reduce childhood obesity among children between the ages of six and 12.
