Caleb Brandon Couch
Caleb Brandon Couch, son of Brandon Couch and Jessica Crawford, was born on January 15, 2004 and passed away on July 15, 2021.
Caleb was known for his extraordinary kindness, his quick wit, and his love for life. He was friendly, outgoing, and made lasting impressions on most everyone he met. One of his teachers described him as hard working, kind, and respectful. He had a keen awareness of those who might need a helping hand. Without hesitation, he would step up to help without expecting anything in return. In a few words, he was a good human – a rarity.
From an early age, Caleb approached the world with a sense of curiosity and faced every new challenge with tenacity and optimism. Although he had varied interests, he could be best described as sportsman and loved the outdoors. In school he was involved in football, baseball, and wrestling. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and recently added rock climbing and racing to his repertoire. He was a certified welder and enjoyed welding as a hobby.
This fall Caleb would have been an incoming senior at Wylie East High School where he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. After high school he had planned to attend Tarleton State and study engineering.
Family was of supreme importance to Caleb. His loss is profound because of the unconditional love he freely gave to each of us. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed. He was an exceptional brother and had a special relationship with each of his siblings. He was affectionately known as “Yaya” to his little sister, Kendall.
In Caleb’s final act of generosity, he donated his organs and gave the gift of life. He made this decision independently in 2019. The family would like to recognize the efforts of the staff of the burn unit at Parkland Hospital and the transplant team from UT Southwestern for their remarkable compassion and expert care of Caleb as well as for those who loved him.
Caleb is survived by his father, Brandon Couch, and his wife Jenifer; his mother, Jessica Crawford, and her husband Alan; his sisters, Madison Couch, Kendall Couch, and Josie Couch; his brother, Sawyer Smith; his grandparents, Dr. Lisa Couch, and Rick and Sandra Wilson; great-grandparents, Joan Oehlschlaeger and Joanne Yandell; his best buddy and dog, Jackz; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bruce Couch.
