I was honored to take the oath of office to serve as State Representative for House District 4 for a second term. It is imperative that this session be focused on supporting free and fair elections, increasing broadband access, backing law enforcement officers, defending the second amendment, and protecting our constitutional freedoms!
STAR Transit is providing free rides for persons with confirmed appointment to get the COVID 19 vaccine shots. The curb-to-curb service extends outside of the agency’s service area. Rides are available Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. For this purpose, STAR Transit is temporarily adding Saturday service from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Reservations should be made at least one service day in advance and are based on vehicle availability.
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 1 through March 29, 2021. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year-round water quality.
Walmart will be offering free COVID-19 testing at the Forney location on Hwy 80. Testing will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am to 9am. First priority is health care workers, first responders, and those over 65. Then others who have symptoms as determined by the CDC may be tested. The name of Valentine represents a deeper love than just romantic relationships and a willingness to sacrifice your life for your faith and loved ones. It shows a deep commitment and love that should be valued and cherished in all forms in which it is found. We celebrate his feast day, St. Valentine’s Day, on the 14th of February, and he is honored as the patron saint of lovers. St. Valentine celebrated love in all of its forms, and inspired the romantic holiday of love today.
The following student was named to the Fall 2020 President’s List at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. The President’s List recognizes students who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester to receive this honor.
Named to the Dean’s List at Saint Michael’s College for the Fall 2020 semester was Natalie Bates, a senior sociology and anthropology / political science major from Forney (75126) and a graduate of North Forney High School.
Experiencing anxiety is a part of life. Anxiety is miserable. However, you have the power to minimize its duration and severity. There’s no need to be continuously anxious. There are numerous proactive strategies which help you effectively deal with anxiety.
Howard Payne University recognized 227 students for academic success during the fall 2020 semester. Students must earn a 4.0 grade point average to be named to the President’s List, a 3.65-3.99 grade point average to be named to the Dean’s List and a 3.5-3.64 grade point average to be named to the Honor Roll. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in 12 or more semester credit hours and have no grade of Fail (F), No Grade (NG) or Incomplete Grade (I) for all courses attempted.
Have you ever heard someone speak and then wished you had been the one to utter the words? Or, maybe you have heard someone say something pithy and thought to yourself, “Hey, I said that one time in a conversation or speech!” And, maybe you have heard someone say lines you just knew were going to be “repeated” and then remembered as a “quote” and said to yourself, “I am glad I did not say that, at least not out loud!”
In Mesquite, burglaries and incidents of breaking and entering were down 52% in Dec. 2020 as compared to Dec. 2019, as was shoplifting by 26% and thefts of vehicles by 21%. These monthly results were announced in addition to the Mesquite Police Department’s quarterly report presented to the City Council on Feb. 1 that showed a 9% decrease in total crimes from 2020 to 2019. The report uses the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), endorsed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and utilized by more than 15,000 agencies nationally, including nearly 600 in Texas.
The McNeese State University Honor Roll for the 2020 fall semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.
